EGO
They say it refers to a reasonable or a justifiable sense of one's worth or importance in the world we live in. I think its an unjustified feeling of being pleased with one's achievements or one's situation. Well there should be some achievement to begin with right? So what is the reason for a person who is in his 20's to hold on to a heavy bag of ego?
Imagine if a person says this to you or to any other person 'Don’t be so humble - you are not that great'
I always found ego to be the reason for many relationships to crumble or the root cause for good friendship to fade away. And the most funniest thing to watch is when a person just tries so hard to maintain a particular level of ego because he/she believes that he/she deserves to be a part of the elite class or he/she thinks that the situation he/she is in right now is so perfect that he/she ought to be that way. To tell you the truth, I’ve seen this a lot among the female gender (did i have to mention it) Ok lets say we have our exception list along with us as we discuss about such a debatable topic.
So she is sitting at a coffee shop and sipping coffee at her own pace. You have to notice her (cause that’s what she wants, she is hardly in her mid 20's but do you know how much she has 'achieved???!!!') but you cannot even go up to her and think of asking her whether she would enjoy your company. Maybe George Clooney or Pierce Brosnan could think of it, but dude! Not you! You are not Mr. Perfect! And by default they believe guys have the saddest sense of humour and that means you do too so don’t spoil your good day at the coffee house.
I deeply apologize for the sarcasm but aren't we on familiar grounds?

Yeah Da.i agree with most of the things that u have spoken about in this blog.especially with the fiirst few lines of the 3rd para.i don understand why do people have so much of ego when they know that they have not achieved anything great in their life and especially when they r with their do called close group of friends and that spoils the relationship.but u just cant change few people who can go ahead and break the closest of relations for their self ego.how sad!!!
hmm..do i see some sexist comments in this article?anyway, will not comment on that..but yes,ego when with friends can really screw up things..'I wont say sorry first.why should I do that?' hah!!
hmmm...a bit chauvinistic i would say...but i dont complain coz even i am the same!! friends for nothing eh?
well that girl sipping coffee is all too familiar to everyone especially in India. dont u know she is the direct descendant of Greta Garbo or Marilyn Monroe?
how dare u try n approach her...sadly she ends up marrying a loser and still tries to show she is leading a royal majestic life...but in truth ends up thriving on Sex in the City and Desparate Housewives with occasional Kyunki Saas...thrown in.
U said it dude. Like minds think alike. Always do!
well.... evil going on (ego). Neither i am a good observant nor a good writer. just happened to read your blog today. I must say you think a lot different than your peers who are as frustrated as people in your other blog.when i read this blog, such people came in front of my eyes in a flash of a second.such broken relations... this was a kind of flashback for me. I think people have ego out of ignorance, out of lack of self identity and out of fear. This may not b true for everyone as such thoughts may come from own experiances. The irony is, the person who is writing this comment i.e. me is egoistic. hehe. i think one can only minimise it but can not completely get out of it.(hedging principle)
hey nice seeing ur comment. Oh i dont blog often these days. only coz i dont have something nice or different to blog.
and this post i wrote regarding EGO is just my opinion. Who actually knows the real or justifiable reason why people show such attitude.
This reminds me of an aphorism which struck me long me "humility(humbleness) is a strange thing..the moment you say you have got it...you have actually lost it."
As you said, a new breed of people are being groomed today..who are completely disillusioned between Ego, Self-confidence,Pride and chauvinism...
I would say, why even have ego when you have achieved something or proabably everythin in life, its all mind games dude... I think you cannot posibbly say that you have achieved everything in life and hence there is no place for ego...Stay simple, live simple...Fundazzzz of life I guess...Every individual has different perspective and when you see someone showing ego just walk past saying(why even saying)...thinking, It does not effect me in anyway...
@venu:
do i see D.K. bose in the last few lines???
I read it long back but as usual delaying things is my habit. Well to start off a very good article. Ever wondered why people have egos. Well from my observation it is mostly just one question. Why should I make a move first when I havent done anything wrong? That is where understanding fails. Second as you said is the importance problem or recognition. We fail to understand that ego will never pave way for anything other than disappointment in life and still we cherish it.
Something is wrong... I am sorry to say but i guess you really haven't understood what i was trying to say in this post. There was nothing regarding making a mistake... i am sure... because i blogged it and i know that was not my intention.
I dont feel like explaining it over this comments section. perhaps we could talk about it when we meet next time.
