Man in the mirror
I have never believed in shortcuts as I really feel it cuts your 'life'... short. Work hard, and work smart as far as possible. When you have achieved what you have always wanted to, you can have and enjoy the best of sleep. This principle of mine became stronger when I read this poem written by some anonymous poet.
When you get all you want and you struggle for self,
and the world makes you king for a day,
then go to the mirror and look at yourself
and see what that man has to say.
and the world makes you king for a day,
then go to the mirror and look at yourself
and see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your mother, your father or wife
whose judgment upon you must pass,
but the man, whose verdict counts most in your life
is the one staring back from the glass.
He's the fellow to please,
never mind all the rest.
For he's with you right to the end,
and you've passed your most difficult test
if the man in the glass is your friend.
You can fool the whole world,
down the highway of years,
and take pats on the back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
if you've cheated the man in the glass.

time and again sanjay you come with words which makes me feel like i am standing in front of a mirror. i will narrate a big part of my life to everyone( via blog obviously ) and then you will understand how close that anonymous poem is to my heart...but why do i have the feeling that HE is not that anonymous for me...
I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror,
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways..
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change!!

Wow! i never read this one before. Its really good.
Its a strange coincidence that Kaustav today asked me(barely an hour before U sat in the lab to publish this post) this question,"what do you think when you look at a mirror?, what do you think a Mirror is?"..."(needless to say..it did roll some thoughts..).
And i said,"Its too abstract a question, to answer in a jiffy..."
This poem,answers the question.(Kaustav, are u listening?)
and btw, where did u get this poem Dude!
i know the poem you have posted..and i really believe its true..you know how i keep saying that i am the most important person to me?this is exactly why..coz i know that at the end of the day, its me i have to live with..but i also look at it from another point as well..the taking care of myself part..i guess it all ultimately falls into the same thing..but my point is that this is also equally important..you should pay yourself more attention..care for yourself first..maybe this is coming out of my 'screw the world' attitude..maybe its not..but this is something i believe in..and this is what keeps me going when i am lonely and tired, but i know i have 'miles to go before i sleep'..
minerva,
sincere request...start blogging.
not chauvinist(male or female) or anything.. but i have the gut feeling the feminine touch to our club will affect the way we blog.
think about it!
btw..my sibling is also there where u are and he, being a chain smoker, has come up wth the best possible solution to ur question. he quit!!
